Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Saudi Arabia)
Ministry of Hajj and Umrah formerly known as the Ministry of Hajj is one of the ministries in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and is specialized in the affairs of Hajj and Umrah and Islamic endowments previously and granting visas to Muslims coming to Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj or Umrah and to facilitate the transfer of pilgrims and pilgrims to and from Mecca and Medina, At their convenience. It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is the only ministry that deals with Hajj and Hajj in the world because of the holy feelings in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, of course. The current Minister of Hajj is His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Saleh Bin Taher Benten .
Incorporation
The establishment and commencement of the work of the
Ministry of Hajj and Islamic Endowments dates back to 1365 AH , when King Abdul
Aziz issued a royal decree establishing the Directorate of Hajj and the Two
Holy Mosques and the appointment of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Saleh
Al-Sheikh as its Director and continued for a period until Royal Decree No.
3/145 On 3/2/1374 AH to change the name of the Directorate of Hajj and the two
holy mosques to the name of the Directorate of Hajj and Islamic Endowments and
the appointment of Sheikh Hussein Arab as its president and entered major
developments after the change of name was interested in the two holy mosques
and pilgrimage to become interested in the mosques and the two holy mosques.
And continued to evolve and considered that the number of pilgrims increases
year after year, a royal decree was issued by Prince Faisal bin Abdul Aziz to
convert the Directorate of Hajj and Islamic Waqf to the Ministry of Hajj and
Islamic Endowments, and the appointment of Prince Khalid bin Abdul Aziz as
Minister and developed the Ministry of Hajj and Islamic Endowments during the
period of 20 years until 1401 Became the Ministry of Hajj and Islamic
Endowments expand the Grand Mosque if needed.
The Waqf has been separated from the Ministry of
Hajj and Waqf Endowments in the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Da'wah
and Guidance. The ministry's name is now the Ministry of Hajj.
